In recent years, riots in the projects, issues of national identity, and the ban on the hijab have never been far from the headlines in France. All of these are related to issues of immigration. Which makes sense: like all sensitive subjects, immigration is littered with prejudices and ideals. This work examines the great human migrations from prehistoric times to the present day, asking why people emigrate, how integration works, and what problems it raises.
