The misadventures of a young Mahoran woman facing poverty and xenophobia.

Angelina's parents dream of a better life, far from the poverty of Madagascar. But after their boat sinks off the coast of Mayotte, the lives of Angelina and her little brother are turned upside down. Now she must work off her parents' debt in order to pay back the smugglers who got them out of the country. She returns to Madagascar, then leaves for Beirut, where she is exploited for a pittance. Will the people she meets help her find freedom?
