Audrey Hepburn, Givenchy's muse and onscreen partner to cinema's greatest actors, dreamed of being a prima ballerina while the bombs of the Second World War rained down on the small Dutch town of Arnhem.
Wounded by her father's abandonment while she was still a child, she traveled in ballet slippers through the cities of London and New York and into the heart of the crushing machine called Hollywood. In the face of fear, hunger and disappointment, and as a voice for underprivileged children in her role as UNICEF ambassador, Audrey never stopped smiling and believing that hope and love make the world a better place.
