Philosophies of caring, in the diverse fields where it applies, are united by their approach: increased attention to the world.

The thesis of this book is that we must approach the world with care and that a "relational anthropology" allows us to think about this care, in the worlds of both medicine and work, and with regard to the environment. As a critical category, the requirement of care enables us to link fields often considered disparate. In contrast to the general approach of exploiting the world, care invites attention to human relationships and the different forms of vulnerability.
