1995: in an attempt to feel useful, twenty-five-year-old Isabelle leaves for humanitarian work in Sarajevo during the Bosnians. Life in the city is punctuated by bombs and snipers, who fire at reckless passers-by. She befriends locals who help her understand that they need more than just food.
