An environmental adventure novel set in the heart of the Congo basin.

Ten-year-old Mobou lives in a village deep in the Congo basin with his fellow Bakas, once known as "pygmies." He likes hunting. The mysterious rainforest, teeming with life, is his favorite playground and the Gambian pouched rat his favorite prey. One day, an official from Kinshasa visits to announce that the government has just sold a portion of their territory to foreign deforestation company. The Baka are forced to move into concrete cabins. Along with his friends and a scientist couple from a NGO, Mobou mounts an entire defense arsenal. His goal: to force these tree killers out o his forest.
