2002-2021: the first French case to be solved by using familial DNA, Kulik's rape and murder shocked everyone and became a landmark in court history.

On the night of January 10, 2002, 24-year-old Élodie Kulik was headed home after dinner. In the morning, her car, and then her body, were found. She had been raped and murdered. A highly unusual criminal investigation began: one that lasted 19 years, through a series of gendarmes and judges. It became a landmark case, altering the law regarding genetic genealogy. It would be the first case in France to be solved using familial DNA searching, which it brought into the lawbooks. It was also the intense story of a struggle for truth led by her father, Jacky Kulik: "I've been fighting for more than 20 years […] I'd like some rest now."
