Can feminism still be said to speak for all women? If feminism is to improve the lot of each and every women with equal rights, it must shift to the first person. This is both simple and ambitious, as propositions go: center freedom and independence as starting points, not end points, where the status of women is concerned. For men and women to live together is neither a class struggle nor a quest for identity. Self-confidence enables emancipation: when it comes to rooting out injustice, no point waiting for society to change. Individualist feminism proposes an ethics of self-esteem. Don't sacrifice yourself for anyone else, and don't let anyone sacrifice themselves for you.
