The life of a South African photographer and visual activist.

Zanele Muholi rose to fame in the early 2000s with photographs aimed at changing public perceptions of black lesbians, gays, bisexuals, transgender, queer, and intersexuals in South Africa.
Her oeuvre calls into question stereotypical representations by depicting participants in her photos as people who bravely face prejudice, intolerance, and often violence.
This book showcases the full range of Muholi's activism, from her first series "Only Half the Picture" to the self-portraits of "Somnyama Ngonyama," as well as "Faces and Phases" and "Brave Beauties." It also includes several previously unpublished essays on her work and an interview with the artist.
This work is the French adaptation of an English-language work published by the Tate Museum.
