Often exploited and discriminated against, indigenous women have fought to earn their place. Today, their way of thinking and acting calls our own into question. By emphasizing their importance in 2017, UN Women paved the way for their recognition, confirmed by the UN's decision to proclaim 2019 the "International Year of Indigenous Peoples."
Anne Pastor met with 25 of these women and portrays them here, defending peoples as varied as the Inuit of Quebec, the Amerindians, the Ainu of Japan, the Māori, the Maasai, etc. These are more than 238 million indigenous women in the world, and they bear witness to a unique cultural wealth. This book enables them to speak freely for the first time.
