Farewell to the Red Woman

Publisher Mercure de France
In the streets of Sevilla, a tragic and yet humorous novel tackling with topics such as exile, family, and the condition of women and migrants.

Siblings Zeit and Zina live in sub-Saharan Africa. One night, their mother leaves with a Western photographer who's just passing through. Zeit, Zina, and their father set out to find her, traveling through deserts and the Strait of Gibraltar before finally reaching Andalucia. There they meet other foreigners: undocumented immigrants like them. Baobab, a street peddler, takes them under his wing. The mother stares out at them from giant posters on every wall of the city. But she's already left the photographer, too... for a writer. With the authorities, the police, and the administration on their tail, Zeit and Zina are left to their own devices. Will they ever get their beloved mother back?
