Caused by conflicting currents of globalization, migrancy is on the rise in today's world. Even as borders close and walls go up, the categories of "migrant" and "refugee" blur, countries of origin become countries of transit or even host nations and vice versa, and citizenship demographics diversify, the expression of a people's right to mobility emerging worldwide. A very real issue with global stakes, too long excluded from discussions of major world events, migrancy transforms and affects international relations, redefining state sovereignty.
