Agnès Thurnauer: Eleanor the Hurricane

Category Art
Contemporary art from the Fontevraud Museum with four unpublished essays by Marie Darrieusecq, Hélène Giannecchini, Anne Kawala, and Tiphaine Samoyault.

Published in conjunction with the exhibit "Agnès Thurnauer: Aliénor l’Ouragane" at the Abbaye de Fontevraud's museum of modern art (4/1-7/16/2023), under editorial supervision from museum director Dominique Gagneux and project manager Gatien du Bois.
Agnès Thurnauer wished to connect Eleanor of Aquitaine with Germaine Richier's sculpture The Hurricane, both figures whose presences are strongly felt at the abbey through their history and works. The sculpture will be moved to the nave across from the recumbent statue of Eleanor reading. The book covers three series on display—Big-big et Bang-bang, preparatory sketches, and the Predella—in conversation with the museum's collection, arranged along complementary lines: vertical/horizontal, light/dark, intellectual/earthly, action/inaction, instant/eternity.
With authors: Marie Darrieussecq , Gatien Du Bois, Dominique Gagneux, Hélène Giannecchini, Anne Kawala, Tiphaine Samoyault.
