After a bad breakup, Johan goes to Brazil for time away from his life in France and social networks, a large part of his life as an activist.
Once there, he discovers Rio and its carnival, its celebrations and costumes, but also a darker aspect of daily life lynchings. Caught up in a euphoric crowd, he watches as people beat a man that vigilantes have named a thief. Both he and the man are rescued by Marcela, an activist against public lynchings. Befriending her, Johan learns the awful truth about a land where a lack of faith in the authorities lead people to justice into their own hands.
