With multiple crises in full swing, the economy has been in the spotlight for several years now, to the point of overwhelming us with information, analysis, and data whose import often escapes us. All the more so, since many economic ideas held to be true don't stand up to a fact check: free trade has never been the rule throughout history, not all forms of flexibility are good enough to reduce unemployment, budget deficits and public debt are not without their virtues, and so on.
The aim here is not to take a stand for or against one approach or another, but to shed light on the issues as objectively as possible, so that everyone can form their own opinion and act accordingly. Because understanding the economy is a civic responsibility.
