When France collapses in June 1940, Jacques Leboy is deported to the rather unusual Stalag 1A, specifically designed for officers of the defeated French army to train a French elite for the “new Europe” after the German victory. Over the course of his captivity and his escape attempts, Jacques will question his political and moral choices, as well as his faith in religion and humanity.
