Deported to the Ravensbrück women's concentration camp during WWII, Violette was sent to Block 10 as a nurse. There she used her drawing skills to keep track of her fellow inmates and document their terrible living and health conditions. Her friend, Dr. Louise Le Porz, used her position to buy medicine for sick people. Violette's drawings, some of which are published here for the first time, served to preserve the victims' memories and bring their torturers to justice.
