July, 1960: in Finca La Vigía, his haven near Havana, Hemingway is finding it more and more difficult to write. Finishing The Dangerous Summer was an ordeal; as for the book about Paris, A Moveable Feast, it no longer satisfies him. Depressed, suffering from fatigue, painfully thin and now impotent, he decides to make the journey to Madrid to see some corridas. Too ill, he is taken to his house in Idaho. He will never see Cuba again. A year later, on Sunday July 2, 1961, at 7am, he makes the last decision of his life.
