In this graphic novel, author Jérémie Dres retraces the fate of his family:his great-aunt Sonia, who remained in Warsaw in the hellish conditions of the ghetto; his grandmother, who miraculously escaped deportation in Paris; and his ancestor who emigrated to the United States, via Ellis Island. Drawing on postcards, letters, addresses, and photographs, Jérémie tells the story of the Jewish experience in the 20th century and the impossible choices they were forced to make.
