Video filters that "correct" our faces, smoothed-out synthetic voices, texts written by algorithms… By mediating even the expression of our most intimate emotions, generative AI is shaping us in subtle yet profound ways. A new sensibility is emerging: AI-affectivity. The implications extend to our values and social norms. Even without being implanted in our brains, generative AI is reconfiguring our cognitive models and our techno-morality. In the face of the algorithmic shaping of our emotions, a question emerges: what kind of humanity, and what kind of society, do we want?
