One of the first real post-punk records according to some, Black and White will undoubtedly make you experience the strange thrill of being grabbed by the throat by the iron fist of The Stranglers, the "Dirty Harrys" of New Wave: an intimidating band with a tortuous career, often the victim of its own incendiary reputation, but whose music stupefies through its relentless creativity. Black and White is probably the harshest record produced by The Stranglers: a volley of ill-tempered songs hurled in the face of England and Europe.
